Bisbee Royale to Host Comedy Show Friday with Native American Headliner

ISBEE — Given the current state of the world, comedy is more important than ever, and the Bisbee Royale has recently gotten in on the comedy action. This Friday, June 20, producer Jennifer Churchill will present a show within its spacious confines, featuring Justin Pinzon, Aaron Petersen, and Native American headliner Gilarious Wolf Brown.

Churchill is a comedian herself. She hosts shows every third Friday at Sierra Vista’s Horned Toad. However, due to a scheduling conflict, she relocated this month’s event to the Bisbee Royale.

Churchill is already familiar with the Royale, since she hosts open mics there every second and fourth Thursday. Instead of limiting herself to the creation of her own routines, she actively encourages other comedians to strut their stuff.

“I love professional comedy as well as open mics, because I can listen to the point of view of each person,” she stated. “When someone develops their comedy and storytelling to a master level, that is a true pleasure to listen to. Our minds are made to tell and listen to stories. If it can be presented in a humorous way, I think it builds bridges and understanding between people where there once was none.”

Churchill, a San Diego native, cut her comedic teeth in Seattle. She now resides in Tombstone. If the Royale show is a success, she would like to turn it into a regular event. She’s especially excited about the inclusion of Wolf Brown, since Native American comedians are rare.
